hi all had a nightmare day today fitting this japspeed full decat exhaust on my 2005 wrx, took 7 hrs as bolt on turbo broke




first the back box hook was hitting the roll bar, so when the car was on the floor it was pushing down hard on the exhaust,rang japspeed they dant wanna know so i had to cut it off




next when i fitted the downpipe as you can see on pitures below, the steering arm (i think) is it to close to the downpipe? will it burn

 

Hi i fitted a downpipe to a 1995 wrx earlier in the week.amd it is a close fit ,but did not look as close as that,however should not effect the steering arm.The exhaust backbox shown in the picture has the hangar arm pointing to the left which means it is for a 1993 - 2000 My.What exactly did they say when you phoned them.

 

they said we have sold loads of these and there ant been problems, i told them speak to the mechanic he told the guy the arm is to close and when car is on floor its bending the exhaust .

so all they said we sorry send it back i told them its getting mapped sunday all they offered was a discount on next product

 

How hard can it be to weld an exhaust up correctly?

Crikey...Subaru produces thousands of them, that just fit...yet all the aftermarket brands can't hit the measurements.

 

and japspeed dont help either, waste of time what makes them think im gunna buy something ele s of them and get a discount when there backbox dont fit

 

any second opinion on the arm near the dp is it safe. just dont want it to melt steering plastic

 

I would say it's too close. You could consider a glass fibre wrap, but that will take up the final smidgen of space, won't it?

By the way...Hayward & Scott have the same attitude. "Doesn't fit? Not possible, our products are always made correct." Once you've payed, it's an uphill struggle.

im just worried that if the plastic melts it will affrect the steering, could be in lamp post, and im thinking have they sent me wrong system

 

As far as the back box goes it looks like there is a strenthening rod on the bracket. If that was not there it would be okay.

 

i had to cut it off, but that arm worries me

The difference being Subaru spends a couple of hundred thousand pounds on tooling and jigs I guess?

Can't see the photo's on this ISP, so can't comment specifically.

its all to close for my liking.........if you pay ££££££££ for an exhaust the last thing you want it to do is hit other parts of the car..

 

im thinking to put some glass fibre wrap around top part of dp will this help?

 

Who are you ?? we never have and never will say "Besides... you already payed us." that isn't our additude so be fair . You have a problem we always help if we can .

There's a reason why its £350 for an entire turbo back system. Copied design sent off to China to be made cheaply with no QC/ trial fitting work afterwards.
The whole website appears to be full of such junk.
It should be made "fit for purpose" so return it.
Either buy a new system that will work, but budget IRO £5-600 or pick up a good quality 2nd hand system for the what you originally paid.
