not really, the ECUtek authorised distributors will issue an ECUtek license and map the car and then lock the ECU. Even if you aquired a cable i doubt you can get access to rewrite it.

If you are confident you can do it, have a look at the OpenECU Forum for plenty of DIY ideas

i already got an Ecutek map on the car about a year ago, just want to be able to buy the ecutek software and data log it while driving to make sure its running ok. So your saying map is locked to one mapper only and no other mapper can edit it?

I think im right in saying any licensed ECUtek mapper can remap again it if you wish, its not locked to one particular mapper

Have a look at the Ecutek website. Assuming your Ecu is compatible then their Delta Dash product will allow you to log in realtime, and read back later.

you wont be able to edit the map, but can at least read.

The ecutek 'lock' doesn't prevent datalogging.

Tactrix cable v1.3

There are occasionally v1.3 on second hand on here. Mark at Thwaites Developments had some too iirc.

Other cables can work for datalogging but it is hit and miss.

I think the OpenPort 1.3 is now manufactured by limitless of NZ (Evoscan SW supplier)
Found one here:
ECU Mapping Tools

Here

OpenPort 1.3 Universal USB Cable on eBay (end time 21-Feb-10 18:50:35 GMT)

And GGR bundle a 1.3 with an LC-1 wideband for a bargain price
Innovate Motorsports|LC-1 / Openport Bundle|LM1, LM2, Air/Fuel Ratio, Gauges, DB, G2. G3

I have a Tactrix 2.0, it is a nice piece of kit, especially as you can now insert a mini SD card and log directly to it without a laptop sliding around on the passgenger seat.

Hmmm - I'd agree with that....

I'm on my second 2.0 Cable in as many months. - Just bought a Mini USB socket to get the previous one repaired

I heard Tactrix will repair FOC but I guess the shipping makes it cheaper to just get it repaired here.
(will be extra careful with mine...)
