Default Quick Wheel/tyre question.

Hi all,

new owner of a MY2000 Classic Turbo Wagon, and I'm just wondering if anyone can quickly confirm the tyre size for me. It's on 16" wheels (all standard UK car)

I have an old Legacy with 15" wheels and I'm wondering if those wheels will fit and I could put 'winter' tyres on them. Just want to make sure my rolling distance is the same.

Cheers

I think the MY99/00 Classic runs 205/50 R16 for a rolling circumference of 1922mm.

IF the Legacy wheels have the requisite 5x100 PCD and 56.1mm Centre Bore, then the best matching 15" tyre would be a: 205/55 R15 (with a RC of 1906mm...)

Dont think the 15 inch wheels will fit due to the disc size on the 4 pots that are fitted as standard (294mm), though on the early cars they had smaller discs (2 pots also).

Thanks for confirming that, sounds right, I'm not near the car at the moment.

Yea if the Leggy wheels fit I was thinking of a 195 60 15 winter spec tyre.

Thanks

Only one way to check then I suppose it's out with the jack and axle stands

Yeah that would be the correct "195" tyre size.

Extremely salient point - I totally overlooked that.

You can fit some 15 inch wheels over the 294mm four pots no problem, although you're no doubt correct to say that OE Subaru 15 x 6's won't go. The diameter isn't the issue, it's the proximity of the inside of the spoke to the outside of the caliper.

It's always those pesky spokes! (rather than diameter) lol
