Default pops and bangs

see a scooby last night with the normal roar and grumble but as it lifted made a big pop and a couple of bangs on the over run how does this happen? is this due to a de cat?

the decat helps but it is a mixture of timing and fuel changes in the remap.

As Duncan suggests above - Subtracting lots of timing and adding plenty of fuel to the top column/row of the map will cause the car to pop and bang on the overrun. - Bit of a gimmic really

Can't do the motor any good, long term, surely?

Don't see the point, if so - 'vanity' over reliabilty/longevity(?)

On all the Apexi's, you can also lift the overrun fuel cut RPM threshold to good effect., using the A/C swithch as the on/off control

AFAIK, Ecutek have definitions which include tables for Overrun Fuel Cut RPM and Delay on some ecu's - I havent seen this feature in any of the Romraider definitions though

going from a re-circ to a VTA dumpvalve can give you some pops too. the standard map assumes there will be some recycled charged air available and so fuels it a bit, but if the charged air is dumped to atmosphere you get a rich spot on the over run. I think thats why anyway? lol! i deleted my DV all together so don't get it much despite aftermarket exhaust from up-pipe back and a new map. one or two but not manny. i do miss it! but not the HKS dumpvalve!

Ah yes, the rev limit is raised for when the A/C's on - I've noticed that on the Commander.

Does that mean, with a really hot exhaust and A/C on, it might allow pops/bangs on the overrun?

Mine pops an bangs with ease especially after lifting off the gas ,decat, vortex and blitz vta seem to account for this,i've had the standard recirculating valve on for the last 3 days, and funnily enough doesn't seem to do it anymore.

My V3 STI RA with sports cat and H & S system pops and bangs with standard ECU. 1st gear in traffic if you accelerate then lift off and it makes a noise like a microwave full of popcorn, the occupants of the X5 behind me with blue lights on top was giving me a funny look.
