Default apexi power fc help

hi
i bought a apexi power fc of some1 for my95 wrx which is getting mapped next month... however i know nothing of how to test the ecu so i simply removed mine and plugged the apexi in and reconnected battery turned key and its just winding over with no attempt to start

does this ecu need to be programmed before it will even work in another car or even worse does it not work at all

any help would be greatly appreciated

Chances are the PFC has a previous owner's map on which could be for a big turbo set-up etc. That said, I wouldn't have thought the fuelling for cranking would be that way out, so that it couldn't start your car!

If you have the Commander, you can intialize the ECU back to factory-supplied base map - this may be enough to be able to return the fueling (if that's its issue?) back to something more suitable, so as to be able to start the car???

As said above, don't attempt to start it on the map from the previous car it was fitted to.

If you still have standard MAF and fuel injectors fitted to your car, then you can reset the Power FC to it's original basemap, and then it should start and tickover fine.

On the Hand Commander press the 'Prev' button until you get the MONITOR/SETTING/ETC menu.

Go into the ETC menu

Goto the Initialise ECU Option and reset the ecu

Turn the ignition Off then back on again.

The car should now fire up.

i ghot too bro, and connected it up and before starting the engine you have to intalize it to factory, as long as it is the correct ecu for your car the sticker on the side should say so as mine says gc8, any way i did the initalize then started it up tick over for 10 mins so it can stabalize then turn the heaters on for another 10 then the a/c for another 10, then went for a drive of boost and it drive as if i had the factory z4 in, then on boost it is spot on, just saving my pennies now for a tune up as i have the avc-r also...............
