is there not a little dot that you have to push a pointed object into?
i have done this job before so i know it can be done but cant remeber exsactly how.
i removed mine when the whole unit was off the car. there is a large button under neath which is permanatly pushed into when the unit is fitted to the column so maybee the unit has to be off the column to release the button and the barrel.
the unii is not difficult to remove, even with the two security bolts. just dot punch the bolts on one corner and tap them round with a screw driver.
