Defo a WRX only

If it were an STi, the second 8 (6th chracter) would be an E

Ignore that, the E designation was for STi v.3 onwards.

But still defo the regular WRX saloon, as the only STi variant for MY95 was a STi v.2 Type RA and that has a 7 where that 8 should be, anyhow!

Get on the blower to the ins co sharpish, as I'm certain they'd charge more for an STi...

rambo, if yours is a 1994, then you've missed out either the MY letter B (for MY94) or C (MY95) - comes after the first 8.

If it is a MY94, then the WRX and STi share exactly the same code - GC8B48D - so hard to suss. The gearbox code I'm certain is a WRX only one - the "...3AA" is what I've got on my MY93 WRX. I reckon it's a WRX...

The SPDA - Transmission Chart

According to the above chart the 3AA is only fitted to the MY93 WRX (like mine, as mentioned), so yours is a MY93 WRX (i.e. up to end of Sep 1993, so can't have been built in 1994). Therefore your applied model code should be GC8A48D. Is it? Double check (as said, you accidentally missed out the MY letter anyhow)....

No rambo, you've defo left out the "MY" letter - and it should be an A:-

i.e. GC8A48D

You've written only GC848D, which is not whole. The 'Applied model' code is ALWAYS 7-characters long (certainly for all the Classics). Post a photo up!

Don't forget that 'A' is adjacent to the extremely similar looking '4' and is easy to overlook... in the same manner that you can so easily read only one 'THE' in the following:-

....... PARIS .......
...... IN THE .......
... THE SPRING ...

But the salient point here, is that your car is a MY93 WRX only - and NOT a MY94 STi - so get on the phone to the ins. co. to tell them!...
