Default Engine needed asap

I’m in need of a cheap standard 1995 WRX engine.

I have lost nearly all compression in one of the cylinders and oil is spewing bark up and out of the dump valve and induction kit. As a Re build is around £1100 I want to put a cheap second had engine in so that I can sell it ASAP.

Anyone have an idea where I could find one or does anyone have one to sell.
My local scrap yard will sell me one for £350 but they don’t have any there at the moment and are unsure when the will have.

Thanks Chris

Is that the same engine as in mine. Sorry don’t know to much about the different engines.

Will it run with the standard 95 wrx ecu and what parts come with it I.e. is it a complete engine with turbo, alternator, power steering pump ect..

Sorry to be a pest lol.

It don't matter about the block chris - they're all interchangeable. Chris your 1995 WRX block is an ODB (the 'lowest' in the pecking order), so you would be replacing with at least the same in terms of spec.

So is this the hole engine or just the block.
I have changed engines in other cars before and it’s a fairly straight forward job. How hard is it to change the block over. I take it that it is literally the block and everything else would have to come of my engine.
Whats the Difference between a short and long block. Sorry im no mechanic lol

Short block is without heads and all ancilliaries. It's normally got the fully assembled pistons/rings/rods/mains/bigs/crank/crank pully and sump. Some are offered with the water pump/stat and oil pump too. You'd just reuse your existing heads and all ancilliaries (and oil/water pumps and stat, if not included).

Long block is as above, but with fully assembled heads/HGs attached, ready to go - just need to reuse your existing manifolds/turbo/PAS pump, etc, etc...

Sometimes you see full engnes on offer, with everthing bolted to it - ready to do a wholesale swap-over (rare though).

I expect wayno is offering you the first option - fully assembled short block - as per the first pearagraph, above. Or it could just be the bare block halves! You'd better PM him for full details...

Nice one.

I think i would be better with a long block as seems easier to fit.

I guess this is the long block.
Would it still come with the cam belt on or is this something I would take off my car and is it going to need timing once all my bits are on.

Once I have bolted all the bits from my engine onto the block is that it or will it need some sort of setting up.

I’m trying to find the quickest and easiest option to get it running again so I can sell it ASAP.

Thanks
