Default Oil filters?

Do you guys still run standard oil filters with your big power / modded cars?

Cheers, TX.

I'm still on a standard oil filter at 570hp - No need to use anything else IMO

I'm no expert but, an oil filter is designed to filter out debris to microns. I can't imagine that there is any need for a special filter for a road car. As long as oil gets around the engine your fine. If your worried then fit a magnetic sump plug it can't be a bad thing, and they are cheap. And check the oil regularly. And the rest of the fluids at that.

In fact why are you asking? If you have spent that much on your car then fit a better filter. They cost nothing compared to that sort of modding.

You talking to me I asked as I'm not sure if others are running the standard filter or have upgraded to something else? Consensus seems to be that standard is OK which is fine. I don't even know what the "upgrade" would be

Well there is an STi oil filter which you can buy from Subaru dealers and I think a few of the aftermarket Subaru parts suppliers (I have seen them on Scoobyworld I think). They are pink in colour and are supposed to give better filtration according to the blurb.

Not sure that they are worth the extra money as they are £25-£35 from memory, but at least you can say you have STi performance parts on your engine.

17 quid for the tiny Subaru filter! There's nothing special about that filter and there are after-market versions that work just as well at well under half the price.
Scroll through the link until you get to the head gasket section
