Orange 'IC Waterspray' Light Flashing when on boost??
Hi
took the car out today for a lil spin as it had been parked up all week, took it 2 miles down a bypass and backup (after warmed up).
anyway then onto some country roads and hit about 5k rpm in 2nd and this orange light flashed, wasnt sure what it was.. and didnt come on again (probs because i let off and slowed down) anuwau a minute or so later on the next road, thought i'd do it again to check if it was engine management light or something .. came on in 2nd and 3rd .
what is this light for? and why did it come on?
i pressed the IC waterspray button assuming it was getting too hot and wanted spraying?
stopped for a minute then came back on.. so i let off, drove normally and then 20mins later put foot down again and it didnt come on at all on the way home..
did it come on because it was too hot? it was raining and quite cold so dont think it was hot , plus ive driven it harder before and never seen it..
also loads with 400bhp on standard STI TMIC and mines running 330ish so cant be that?
any ideas?
also noticed my tank is half full (waterspray tank) assume you just put normal cold water in it?
Cheers

You can use normal water but deionised is better as tap water will stain your intercooler due to the chlorine in it.
You can use water from a dehumidifier if your stuck

At least its an easy one mate, there is a similar situation with FTO's it flags up with a low water alert in the washer bottle and so many people post about a strange warning light on the dash lol
Its like the equivilant to SIAL on the fto site

thanks tony for stating the same as me water wise seen it before when TAP WATER used ended up looking more like a radiator rather than a intercooler lol.
for the people using tap water just look in your kettles that crap in the bottom is the same thing on your intercoolers due to tmic on top of hot bay
