TD05 16g ?
Best step up from td04 on 05 wrx? Everything else is done decat pump plugs ect. TD05 16g ? I can't find a vf34/35, need the quickest spool up. The 16g would be from Andy Forrest, any advice?

You've considered Andy's TD04 Hybrid then? Thought they were good for 320 and better spool than the 16g

I am in the same boat, don't know what to go for, I was going for an 18g, then a 16g and now thinking about the td04 hybrid, for quick spool, and it'll be a bloody quick road car.
I did like the td04 when it came on my car, bought to other turbos and not sure whether I like the kick when turbo comes in.

People forget about the SC range... SC36 sounds perfect for what you want.

Completely confused now, don't know which one to go for. Both Andy and Harvey do the 18g but with my present TD04 comeing on boost at 25000 I am still concerned about the later spool of the 18g.

550's won't prevent it from achieving that figure - they're more than adequate (which I'm sure you know ). But there's no guarantee of the 16g making it. That said, it is capable of c.320-350, typically. So you'd be unlucky not to make your 330, or thereabouts.
Don't think the 18g is much later spooling than the 16g - think the exhaust housing/wheels are the same(?). I believe the 18g has slightly bigger comp wheel so can push more air - this is why they usually make anywhere between 350-380. Obviously, with a bigger impeller comes slightly more mass/inertia to the CHRA, so it's prob this that makes it slightly slower spooling than the 16g...

Nothing that an extra bit of gear-stirring can't address!
Well worth it for the extra bhp the 18g will make over the 16g, assuming your 05 WRX's IC is able to make/manage that power, which I think it can. (Think it's rated to c.380-400+, so spot on).
