You will probably find most people will recommend the MD321(t or v), but what car do you have? engines are great to rebuild but some cars have other weak spots that a turbo like the 20g will take advantage of and leave you with a big bill

Well for sure you will need a re-mapable ECU and for best results I would also add: Headers, full de-cat, induction, injectors, Uprated fuel pump, adj FPR (I think).

The 20g is better suited to cars with the 2.5 block.
What power are you aiming for, just curious as if your not going over 350bhp the the 750 injectors might be too big and cause a few idleing issues.

Also the standard V2 gearbox wont last long with a 20g

For a 2 litre use a 7cm.
For a 2.5 litre use an 8 cm.
Port the exhaust inlet and use a matched uppipe for best spool and performance.
All my turbos come with the exh. inlet ported.

57mm 90-deg silicone 'snorkel' (cheapest UK-supplied one I could see - plus it's black to match the OEM 90-deg turbo pipe):-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/57mm-2-1-4-SIL...item439c69d25e

57mm ally joiner (again, cheapest I could see):-

57mm 2 1/4" ALLOY JOINER ADAPTOR SILICONE INTERCOOLER on eBay (end time 20-Feb-10 14:36:29 GMT)[/U]

Or why not get 2nd hand v.3/4 inlet manifold, v.3-6 PAS res/pump, and v.3/4 intake to go under the IM? Much better all round!

Mus : I have run a TD05-06 20GHP at 422 bhp on my 95 WRX with a TY754 gearbox for three years now without any problems from the transmission or clutch.
It is down to how the car is driven and whether the driver has a degree of mechanical sympathy and does not let the car sit on the clutch instead of using the handbrake.

I've run a 20G on my TY752 box for a year with no issue either, thats including trackdays, but no 1/4 mile stuff and no hard launching, I think mechanical sympathy has alot to to with the longetivity of these boxes

Hi Harvey

Not everyone has mechanical sympathy like your self I used to have a habit of missing gears on my box before which never helps the life of the gearbox, for me personally I would rather be safe than be sorry I sold my box and engine in working order then purchased a PPG that’s because I had a lot planned for the future

Pmsl that's a very good point, I think once an evo, skyline or another scooby comes next to him at the lights it will be hard not to launch. Drag strip is a must aswell so I think if your planning trips to the pod etc in the summer might be worth selling your box while it still works and upgrade in to a ppg, six speed or even a vet 6 box depending on what power your going for

V-Power plus 2mls per litre NF. 1 bar by 3160 rpm when fully warmed up and full boost by 3500-3600. Was running this engine at 1.7. I have now sold this turbo to Jeff Pugh for his car which is in rebuild. Note this was not a TD05-06 20G everyday turbo. It is TD05-06 20G HP and all of these have been easily over 400 bhp. The average 05-06 20Gs to about 380 bhp comfortably.

Speak to some of the other guys on here runnning > 500hp and ask them how much they have spent during the various stages to get to that sort of power. Developmental costs, parts, labour, the cost will scare the sh1te out of you. In some ways I think they are almost embarrassed to tell you the cost.(circa 80 - 100K). yes you read it right.

Well, save up and get that box changed or it will only end in tears. you have been warned. sell up and get a 6 speed (minimum). Full drivetrain mind, not just the box. half shafts, hubs, diffs, the whole nine yards.

I have found from personal experience, family and subaru modification don't tend to be mutually exclusive. you either mod your car and your family eat cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner OR you get rid of the family and can spend your money on what you want. oh, btw, having no kids is a distinct advantage here

True I dont deny I drive like an old woman on the roads, but I still give it a fair bit of abuse on track, I think shock loading the box doing 1/4 mile stuff is the main killer though

- And the heads were...?

- Where can you get hold of the 'special' HP version of the TD06 20g then?
