z4 ecu help !
Just wondered how i go about putting a z4 ecu in my 1995 wrx import. There is some one selling one near me says its proffesionally chipped and will plug and play in my car. But i thought it would need mapping to my car? He want around £80 for it? and 25 for the decat pipe?
Cheers bry

The Z4 is for a TD05 turbo the UK Turbo came with a TD04

Somene will know for sure in a mo....

Not the early ones, they had a td05 (saloons) but always worth looking to make sure and yes cam and crank pinouts need to be changed.
imo Lockie i wouldn't bother go for a Polarperformance chip or even better the ESL daughterboard (although these are both more expensive)

Isn't this a 'myth'? Don't ALL UK MY93-96 wagons - AND saloons - have a top entry TD05H???
Then all had a front entry TD04L from MY97>00.

Yes if it's the Trial i'm thinking of they are a tuner in Japan.
Most tuners in japan map their chips quite aggresively (fuelling/boost etc)and for 100 RON fuel

i would get it checked out on a dyno after fitting because you have no idea of what the boost, fuelling, other mods it was mapped for imo it's a risk
Alright Joz

Its ign. timing profile is unkown. As mbx says, the Jap ECUs are noramlly aggressive to take advantage of their high octane fuels options. Boost level should be 1.1-1.15bar and no more, as it'll be dictated by the MY93-96's 2.2bar MAP sensor.
If you do use it, I would certainly play safe and use ONLY V-Power PLUS octane booster. i.e. 100/101RON - this should be the correct RON for that chip's map.
Even then, I'd get the AFR's checked on a dyno...
