Gona be puttnig my new WRC style wing on soon when it's sprayed, but I was wondering about the black goo that came with.
is this the best way to fix it? it's supposed to go mega hard when it sets !??!
the original is fixed with foam pads (as well as the bolts)

will I be able to get it off, if I need too, if I use the goo ?

any experiences please?
cheers

Hi m8

I'd use the 2 original bolts either side (obviously) and the run some draft excluder foam along the entire underside of the spoiler.

For good measure you could also run a bead of silicon along the inside edge of the foam on the spoiler, but if you do this let it dry before fitting it to the boot! (silicon is very nasty to get off paint)

I wouldn't think about glueing or putting any adhesive onto the boot unless you never want to take it off, or don't mind having the bootlid resprayed if you do.

Keep your eye on Southern, theres a few locals that get together be good to meet more Kentish Scoobs

Hi m8,

spoiler is an RB5 WRC type one, so it doesnt go all the way across the boot. it's just a one element high wing.
The stuff that comes with it is in a black foil pack & I dont know if it's adheasive or just a rubbery silicon type stuff.
it's called BETALINK K1.
any ideas ?? (think it's an adheashive .. but web pages are all in german!)

cheers
Steve

Its probably just a sealant to stop water getting in your boot. I'd use a foam draft excluder instead, lot easier if you ever need to take it off.

Its what came with my STI spoiler and I get no leaks at all.

Do you mean normal door draft excluder stuff ?
I'm sure this goo is adheasive now - found a few web sites mentioning it. but I would like to think that I could get the spoiler off if I needed too without taking half the boot with it ! :-)

I used the double sided foam type tape that holds numberplates on. Double it up a couple of times so its about2-3mm thick.

Exclamation

Chaz - will see what that's like .. think I have a few bits some where !

M_D_B - got it from ScoobyParts ... its the type that the RB5 commonly has in a high wing IIRC !

Other than that I think I'll try to find some dense foam with sticky back & cut that to the shape and try that !

wat'd yah rekon - B&Q for some draft excluder type foam pad?

When I fitted my Prodrive wing I put a bead of good old dum dum putty round the bolt holes to make sure that it was watertight. Comes off easily as well
