Default ENGINE SWOP CLASSIC 2LITRE TO 2.5

hi folks my mate has had a rear end shunt on his 2.5 gravel express wagon on a n plate not even had it long question is can i fit this engine to my 1994 classic everything under the bonnet seems to look the same and its only done 68 thousand miles full history as if so how much should i offer him cars gettin stripped as its too bad to sort mostly rear quarter squashed upto the back door
and also where do i find the engine code so wen it comes to change my documents over so its legal as my car gona be on the road more than a track

Well a gravel express will have an ej20 as standard. What did the 2.5 come out of that it has in now?

i dont no mate thought it was standard 2.5 because it has it on the crushed bootlid lol and also on reg documents
