towing a scoob
#1
theoretical question... let's say for some reason your scoob breaks down and you need to get it towed... I've heard that there are some issues regarding the towing of four wheel drive cars???
opinions?
obviously by towing I mean the front two wheels in the air, whilst the rears freewheel!

I believe it is okay to tow with four wheels on ground like with a rope or bar... but not with two wheels on ground only...
Same with MOT rollers... although mine was put on before I realised it could cause damage to centre diff, thankfully all is fine still.

With Puff on this "flatbed only"
Depending on whats broken u can actually end up causing more damage by towing it (ie gear fragments being dragged through the box)

Slightly off topic, beware of on-wheel balancing where one of the front wheels is rotated by the balancing machine, as this can cause the same kind of damage to the differential.
This towing thing is one of the first question I asked on this BB, cos the instruction manual specifically mentioned flat-bed trailer. I have an old Audi 90 Quattro with a mechanical central diff (manually lockable), and the book says it is OK to tow for a short distance (forgotten how much) at a slow speed and I have done it a few times with no problem.
