Default Bottom end dying, advice please.

Sounds like my bearings are going

What you think is best corse of action?

Thought about changing bearings because thats cheapest but its a long old job, thought about just putting a new engine in but i could get a worse one...?

Ideally i'd like to strengthen the engine while its out for a bit more power, but can't afford that right now.

Any other ideas?

First thing would be to find out whether your suspicion is correct or not.

It's also likely not as cheap as you may be thinking. It's not just new bearings, you may be looking at a crank, oil cooler, possibly oil pump, definitely a pair of head gaskets, it adds up.

Always a risk.

First things first - get the thing listened to and looked at by someone who knows, at least then you have a more realistic idea what you're facing, and may, if you're lucky, find the noise is caused by something else.

Unfortunately i'm 90% sure its the bottom end, the symptons are the same as previous cars.

I should get it checked by a pro, but i can't think of any that are local and all normal garages round here are as much use a a chocolate kettle.

Assuming i am right, what would you suggest?

Cheers mate, its not as bad as that yet luckily. I'm just being cautious because i spun a shell in my celica and it destroyed the whole engine before i had chance to stop.
