running the Oem BOV to atmosphere??
Hi guys!
Ive been getting some air flutter sounds on high boost for ages now and decided to get to the bottom of it. If ive done my research correctly it sounds like wastegate chatter/flutter.
A friend said it could by my BOV (a forge), so i thought of putting the oem bov back on to test if its that (i dont have another one to test).
My question is, can i run the OEM bov to atmosphere (not re-circulating it), just for the sake of the test, or does it work differently and will damage the engine?? Im MAP based and have been running the forge BOV since day one (much before the remap with the Motec), so un-metered air not an issue (right?).
Instead, Could i just run the forge bov without the vacuum hose disconnected to see if its the cause of my , or will that mean trouble)
I can feel a very slight leak from my headers too, maybe its that
Thanks guys
Mike

Thanks Anders!
Im getting flutter at partly open throttle, around 1.1 bar (i run max of 1.35). Also its only noticed on high loads (like 3rd and especially 4th n 5th gear). I run a VF34 with a Motec on aftermarket headers. Could a small leak in the headers cause fluttering at part-open throttle under high load? This sound wasn't there from the beginning (remap).
Thanks very much
Mike
