Exclamation Crazy misfire problem this morning...

Well i only use the scooby once a week now due to us having two cars and the ever increasing cost of fuel..anyway.

This morning i try and start the car (uk classic btw)

It tried and tried to crank over but it just wouldn't even after a few prods of the throttle.Eventually it started flushing too much fuel in so i stopped. After a good poke around under the bay i couldn't see anything obvious so tried again.

This time it started after a while but started misfiring very harshly almost like the engine was seizeing the engine was literally rocking back and forth badly! I then noticed the block were the leads go into. One the bottom left port i could actually see the sparks coming through the black plastic like little lightening bolts. This then stoped for a while and the car ran fine but then it moved to the bottom left port and was misfiring again...then it stopped

I took it around the block and it ran perfect. Then used it for the rest of today and it didn't miss a beat!

What could it be? An earthing problem? I got a shock at one point when i touched something metal off the engine.

Just for note it died on me last week outside college and i had to get a new battery.

Thanks in advance guys

what you discribe is not unusual on an marque that uses leads, If the leads are a lilltle old and the car has been sat a while in damp conditions its a common issue.

As above replace the leads

Yeah i suppose it could be that...the leads were damp and also the 'dizzy' was.

Will do that then.
