I have an ECU, Transponder (the black box under the dash) & Key Chip from a scraped car (same model & year) that I want to put in my Bugeye STI Type UK replacing the ECUTek locked ECU, Transponder & Key Chip. Aside from disconnecting the battery to make sure nothing blows up, I assume as long as the chip is coded to the Transponder & ECU it should work.

On the MY97/98 this is correct, done it twice with Prodrive ECUs, the black Transponder box is often overlooked apparently. Can only assume the same for the later cars.
