Light vs Super-lite Pulleys?

Light vs Super-lite Pulleys?
Taking about Alternator, Powersteering, and Crank pulley sets.
OEM Pullies 3.16ish kg
£240.00 RCM Lightweight pullies are 1.18kg a saving of 1.98ish kg
£300.00 RCM Super-lite pullies are 0.85kg a saving of 2.31ish kg
Is it worth going for the super-lite options as I’m already going to be spending £240 quid might as well do the extra £60 if they are considered to be better? Or will this be compromising too much drivability?
Has anyone heard about the super-lite crank pulley causing issues with driving the belt properly?

A super lite pulley won't drive your belt any differently to your OEM pulley. The difference is in the rotating mass. The more weight you can shave off rotating engine parts and the parts connected to those rotating parts the more power you will make.
Lighter internal engine parts are much easier for the engine to move than heavier OEM parts.

The difference in real life isn't just the weight of those rotating parts obviously but there will be a little bit of extra bhp to be had. Not much though because bhp isn't the biggest benefit to be had and is actually quite small.
The real benefit is just how much quicker your engine will rev compared to standard. This is why a much lightened flywheel makes such a difference from the OEM one to not only tickover (Idle can become lumpy) but to how much quicker it picks up.

I bought the blue ones for my 03 WRX, i believe just the lightweight ones and not the super lightweight. There is no real world difference but in blue they look mint to me! LOL.
I have however had some belt slipping issues which of course i totally blamed on the new pulleys, BUT having just had my service and seen the offendingly worn and cracked belts, i suppose i will let the pulleys off with a warning!
I have had mine on for a long while now, a couple of years me thinks.

Jusr bear in mind as well the write up on the RCM webby.
For the superlight set i quote the following:-
"Please note that it is not possible to run air-conditioning with this pulley arrangement."

I've got the four pulley lightweight set from cdf-racing being fitted in January. Moreover, they're swapping the lightweight crank wheel in the set for a super light weight underdrive pulley which is half the weight of the lightweight pulley. CDF state that they'll refund me if I can't feel the difference between that and what I have now on my WRX STI PPP
Not especially interested in any potential bhp change, it's all about throttle response for me and apparently this is the next best thing after the clutch fly wheel.... which will be next and probably my last mod except for a new ECU
Will post some before and after logging data.

Hi Chris, you're in the process of getting some gold anodising for some pulleys to go to Subaru4You. They're for me! Rick has booked the car in. How does this work with your generous pricing offer?

Yes they are at the anodisers but they are having problems with there gold die at the moment.... I dont stock the underdrive pulleys hence the wait,
You will have to pm me the price you are paying from rick then I'll sort the price out with him
is this for a 4 piece?
thanks

Thank you kindly Chris. Yes, it's for the four piece set with the lightweight crank pulley changed for the under-drive version. BTW Rick isn't sure if a shorter drive belt is required, should you wish to discuss with him. He's ordered a shorter one for me as a precaution. I'll call him tomorrow and check the price (I can't recall off-hand). If the anodisers are causing you problems, feel free to scrub that part but no rush. The car is booked in beginning of Jan.
Stock size pulleys you can use the same belts
Thanks
