By way of a humorous aside, I'm wondering why anyone wanting "mobile diagnostics, fault finding, adaptations, key coding, mileage adjustments" would take their car to someone who admits to be "really **** with electronics and wiring"...?

Surely being quite good at such subjects would be a bit of a pre-requisite for all the diagnostic and fault-finding stuff?

Theres a small difference between plugging in an OBD connector and using the correct software to wiring/splicing/voltage testing/general 12v electric workings?

Please dont comment on things you clearly know nothing about.

Theres always one troll.

Ooh, who's a bit touchy? Didn't you see the comment about it being a humorous aside?

But, seeing as you took my post seriously, yes, there are small differences between being able to plug in an OBD plug and doing auto electrics properly. One requires £20 on eBay for an OBD reader and the other requires some expertise and experience.

You also tend to find that the folks who can do the electrical bits and pieces find the OBD stuff rather easy.

As for "things they know nothing about", snigger. Must try harder.

Newbie? She's been on here longer than me!

I'm still trying to work out what happens to the fault finding when the OBD reader pings up something that might be an electrical problem. Hmmm.

How many males do you know who'd identify as "foxy" and have a thing for James May?

It has to be a male member because

1. wimmins don't post in Technical
2. wimmins don't own Subaru Imprezas
3. wimmins can drive, never mind drive a "fast" car.
