Default how hard is it to fit a classic one piece system onto a newage?

hi all

just wondering what it would involve to get my one peice cat back titanium exhaust system onto the bugeye ive just bought.

is it just the brackets/exhaust rubbers in a diffo place?

or would i need a complete new exhaust?

cheers

Apart from turning the rear hanger on back box through 180 degrees........

Get the hanger cut off and rewelded to locate correctly.

Eggy- what do you mean about the decat? isn't the Titanium one a decat alreday?

Are there any joints at all on the system (slip joints?)
If it was a flanged system then it might be possible to find a matching decat d/pipe that would fit, but if slip jointed then a tough job to get anything to match.

no joints on the system , just one piece with the open neck part (i think thats what its called, its basically open with 2 holes for 2 bolts to join onto downpipe) at 3" to join onto the downpipe or standard cat pipe

Classic systems are about 100mm longer so it will stick out the rear bumper too far, unless you have a classic fitment downpipe on

lol ok so that means i will have to get a classic downpipe, np

next question apart from the extra length, would i need a ramap after the cat back exhaust is fitted?

its got a cat back on but i'm not sure what size pipe work it is, havnt checked,

howeevr this titanium system is 3.5" pipework and goes to 3" where it attached to the downpipe and 4.5" jap angled backbox.

would it be fine on OEM map?

cheers

Not if you have a JDM car or if you fit the classic downpipe with the system

just sized them up today, seems perfect fit bar the centre hanger.. but thats not a problem due to titanium being light!

however! your right its 10cms too long lol and i dont know of a way of fitting it without it looking silly.

and i'll need a remap if i do the down pipe, might just see if i can get a nur spec back box

if i get an open neck classic downpipe and bolt the exhaust on, can i drive the car off boost for a day till its mapped? or not?

as i think the newage has more cats than a classic plus with it being on standard map it might not be good

yes you would be ok to drive off boost on route to it being mapped, and yes the newage wrx`s had a catted up-pipe

i just had an idea on how to get the classic titanium system to fit..

ive seen a v3 sti thats breaking, if i take the standard downpipe off it..and replace that cat with mine

would it be ok with the cat back system? or would it still need a remap? as the newages are more restrictive?

dont want to do a remap just yet

cheers

At worst it may try to boost spike, then the ecu will cut-in and stop your fun....

Driven fairly sensibly you will just feel it spool quicker and feel more responsive.

IMHO

ive just bought a classic fitment downpipe, so hopefully it'll fit perfect once i change the rear hanger position..

i wont come accross any other problems will i? lol as im fitting it the day before mapping.. does the standard cat to centre section have a gasket i can reuse?

i hope i wont need new gaskets..

ok thought i'd add to this as i'm soooo tired and pissed off lol

im currently fitting the classic downpipe for this exhaust and got 2 problems.

1) lambda sensor is in a different place on newage (centre rather than at the top near the turbo) so i dont think i'll make it reach the connection

2) the downpipe mounting bracking is too big and needs chopping and re-welding to the correct size!

currently doing that now!

will update if i can get the dam exhaust on sucessfully.. what a long day

p.s. i think my heat wrap will have to come off when making a new bracket
