Question Strange Check Engine Light

Hi Folks,

Could anyone shed any light on the following for me please ?

Over the past few weeks my Check Engine light comes on during driving.

Now what I have noticed is it comes on under the same conditions every time.
It happens when I'm going up a long steep hill. Then when I go back to flat and brake, or go downhill the light goes out again.

My brain is saying this is fluid related, as I go up the hill all fluids are going towards back of engine. Going flat and braking makes them return to the front or equal across engine.
I have checked all fluids, and found that the oil was a bit low, so topped that up but problem still persists.

I have tried to read fault code, but non reported because soon as I turn off the ignition with the check engine light illuminated, then it has gone out when I turn ignition back on.

The engine doesn't suddenly 'change' in performance, feel or sound.

Has anyone experienced this or got any ideas as to what it could be ?

A most confuzzled Dave.

I am assuming as the code 32 is repeating that this means it is the only fault code in the history since the ECU was last reset. Is it worth doing an ECU reset and see if it does it again just incase this is an old error code ?

Is the oxygen sensor something I can change easily? Or best to get a dealer to do it?

I know this sounds really Basic and not wanting to be patronizing, have you checked all the Levels, it seems funny that it only happens going up Hill ?

reset the ecu and c if u still get an error code-if still oxy sensor its easy 2 replace on my car(95 wrx)-its by the exhaust manifold heatshield but i think its fair 2 say that if u have a prob with your car and u r getting an error code then its a fair place 2 start

Done an ECU reset and still have the fault code 32.

What is weird though... if a fault code is present, why isn't the Check Engine Light on all the time ? Or is this normal behaviour ?

Thanks richgreenscooby1 for your advice re connector, i shall take a look tomorrow.

One last question. As the Check Engine Light is not on, do I need to sort this now or could it wait until next service? Is this going to damage anything by this sensor not working correctly ?

The o2 sensor is partly responsible for your engines fueling, Sensing the amount of Hydrocarbons in the exhaust and adjusting the fuel Mixture accordingly, so if working incorrectly could Over/Under fuel your engine which could cause problems.
