Turbo upgrade, which one?
My Sports cat, exhaust and filter have arrived and I thought that I might change the turbo on the car to something slightly bigger!
The car is a standard 07 WRX and I dont want to go mad and change internals etc but a nice increase would be great!, so whats a straight swap and what power could I expect guys?
Cheers

The 2006/7 have the same injectors in the WRX and STi. Flow at 550 ish or 505 depending on how you measure them.
The 2006/7 WRX tmic is very good so wouldnt be necessary to upgrade that unless going above 350.
The STi VF43 turbo and decat would safely see you to around 350bhp and slightly more torque and makes a great useable road car

Add: walbro fuel pump and pinks (if not already there), you'll achieve 330bhp.
Either VF35 or 34 turbo will do the trick. VF35's are more commonly available, whereas VF34's are roller bearing which imo make them better for spool up.
I've had both 35 and 34 and there's little difference noticed in performance, but I've got anti lag so got the 34 as it'll take more abuse

Cheers Guys!!
So running around the 320/30 mark will be fine for internals and clutch then?
That would be a nice figure!, as said I'm not looking to spend mega bucks or start pulling the engine apart!

A fmic is not necessary under 350bhp, but an sti tmic would be a nice mod over the current wrx one.

as i said, its an option, not an absolute must, but it will help, have read

300 is about the limit of the top mount before you start loosing performance.

theres a few things that would have been good to try, larger cored front mount, sti top mount upgrade then perhaps some branded front mounts.
i would expect the results fo the sti top mount would be somewhere between the standard wrx one and the hyperflow top mount. but thats a pure guess
