On mine, permanent live is taken from the rear of the hazard lights switch, and the lighting live I connected to the actual sidelights, which I found by removing the steering wheel shrouds, (2 screws underneath), and probing the wires coming from that side stalk with a circuit tester, until I found the correct one, then switching lights on and off to check it went on/off too.

My circuit tester was bought at a local carshop: it has a brass barrel with a sharp point on one end, used to pierce insulation, and a lead with a crocodile clip on the other end, used to connect to earth. Inside the barrel is a bulb that lights up if you find a live.

Cost me about £2, been worth it's weight in gold.

Hi Andy,

You can take all the feeds from the Hazard light switch.

There will also be an illumination wire on the car stereo loom. Again using alacazars method above i.e. a circuit tester to locater the correct wire or a multimeter if you have one, or you could improvise using a car light bulb....
