Default tensioner

my tensioner has only done 1300 miles, but i removed it about 7 months ago but left it in the fully open postion, didnt push pin in and lock it back.

is it now sdafe to push it back and reuse. or has it been in open postion 2 long.

It should be fine as long as you compress it the correct way.

If its the later single bolt tensioner, then measure the free length of the pin (from the top of the tensioner body to the top of the pin) should be 5.70mm +-0.50mm.
If it measures up other than the spec, then bin it.

If its ok, then compress it fully and release it 2 or 3 times very very slowly before locking the tensioner pin.

Free length of the early 2 bolt tensioner is 15.40~16.40mm.
