Can anybody help, not all the time but some times there is a tapping (ticking) sound coming from under the bonnet on MY97, when i went to investagate it is coming from what looks to be relay which is behind the offside suspension top,and when the engine is switch off it keeps ticking for another 2 seconds. Has anybody come across the same problem. p.s ive only had the car 6 months so still a bit of a novice

Gibbs, sounds like the wastegate solenoid. Check the FAQ on the SIDC website, this will tell you about the cleaning process.

Question

I've had the same problem, but it went away. Is this possible or could it still lurking. I'm also a bit of a novice, where does this soleniod live ?

Cheers,

gt

It'll be the boost control solenoid which is the brass sylinder infront of the strut turret.

Some are louder than others, mine is hardly audible with the bonnect shut, but a collegues is alot louder.

Give it a clean out with some brake cleaner.....
