Default 95k miles too high??

Hi I need some more advice please..I have seen an STI with prodrive for sale that is a 53 plate with 95k miles on the clock. The car looks mint in terms of body etc but what are the pitfalls of this sort of mileage?? Is it disgustingly high?It has a new turbo last year. Are there things to consider regarding this?I know it all boils down to price etc but would any of you buy one with this mileage and if so would you be expecting large bills to follow??Sorry for all the questions I did a search on mileage but nothing came upThanks Martinps I am trying to beat my record of 1 reply for my posts

I would do my level best to get lower miles. No matter what people say about how well its been looked after, remember its a scooby and they are bought to be driven hard ignore what the seller tells you and let the car do the talkin have a really good look an drive then sleep on lt.As you said though it may be worth it if the price is right, but for me i like lower miles.

Here's a second reply for your post record

As above, the car will tell you what kind of life its had if you know what to check - would be worth checking others for mileage to see if this one is overly high - does sound a bit high to me so I would check the service history thoroughly, see what its had and what the next one might cost you

There isnt much wrong with a high mileage car if it has been serviced/maintained correctly, in some cases you can get a 100k miler thats better than one that has done 30k, just because it has miles on it doesnt mean its knackered.
I would rather have a 100k miler motorway car than one thats done 3 miles to work and back for the last 5 years.

yep mines one 90 odd thousand with no problems. I might be inclined to ask or find out why it had a new turbo though?

As long as the engine has been looked after and coes with good service history,i wouldnt be put off because the millage was abit on the high side.

If you are planning to have the engine re-built and run big power and you can get the car cheaper because of the miles then go for it. If you are planning to leave it standard (we all do at the start - it doesn't last long ) then look for a lower mileage car.

I've heard of engines blowing at 30,000 miles or some that keep going to well over 200,000 miles. Its all down to servicing and luck.

My 98 uk classic has 14000+ miles on it an engine wise its never missed a beat. Now sitting at 301bhp.
Good quality fully synthetic oils and sympathetic useage (until its warmed up)
have seen to this and yes a large amount of good luck i suppose.
I agree that big miles are not a problem to imprezas. Go drive it an see how it feels and what history there is. Ask why the turbo was replaced.

Fair enough ive replaced just about every other part on the car apart from the engine but engine wise its still going strong............... bet it goes pop tommorrow
