Default fitting a V3 Inlet Manifold onto a V1 car.

I have a V1 Type Ra, and i want to convert it to front entry.

I have got the V3 STi Manifold, and had it refurbished, but when i got it we did not get the loom with it.

First difference is the Single coil but if i was to use my loom i would retain the coil packs.

Next difference is the Throttle position Sensor, the V1 has a 4 way plug, where the V3 only has a 3 way

You cannot swap the sensor over as it fits differently, and you cannot swap the complete throttle body, as the cable is on opposite sides.

So i think my best option would be to use my loom and try and rewire the new sensor.

Has anyone already done this or have another option?

I need this sorted ASAP, as it's going in for a simtek next week. and was hoping to drop it down on Sat

Thanks
Derek

Idle control valve doesn't fit from a Phase 1 manifold to the phase 1.5.

Phase 1 header tank doesn't fit the phase 1.5 manifold.

I've for a phase 1.5 manifold here, and was going to swap if for the phase 1 on my car, but, gave it up as a bad idea - only because I didn't have the time or technical ability to work out how to make things fit.

The manifold will bolt to your heads, and injectors etc are a straight fit, was the throttle body and stuff that pissed me off.

the phase 1.5 mani will not fit on a phase 1 block without you changing the top hose inlet that sits on top of the engine. the fuel rails get in the way!

heres the difference

I know about the water pipe, and is not an issue for me, I am running a 2.5 so have the later X-over pipe.

I am already using a later header tank and the Idle control valve will fit. however, the wiring plug from the v1 fits the later ICV any way.

172sport, the point is you can convert to a Front entry Turbo and not have a 90 degree bend right before the Turbo.

As for the Throttle Position Sensor, I have found out the later one has 3 wires. Black, White and Red.

the early one has 4, Black White, Red and Brown.

so i need to find what the brown wire does. If i can do away with it, then it will be straight forward

Ideal Martyn,

I wish it was you i spoke to when i phoned earlier today, i would have had the car all back together today.

The chap i spoke to seemed confused and told me the loom split two ways on the v3 one went to the drivers side and the other to the Passenger side wings.

I will sort it tomorrow, new manifold will be in, but i will be using the old injectors. and driving it down as i cannot get the trailer.

If you guy's do not object if i have the time i may swap the injectors when i get their.

Ok, I fitted the Manifold, and their are a number of changes.

X-Over Pipe (I already had this done)

Power steering Pump & Pipes need to be replaced for V3-4 or you can fit newer and relocate tank to wing. (I had the pump but was using V1 pipes, had to change them to V3, which i had due to the Induction pipe getting in the way.

V3-4 water header tank (Again i was already running this.)
water pipes for header tank & top Rad hose.

Wiring, i removed the pins from the original TPS, and put some self amalgamating tape on each wire. and simply pushed the wires onto the TPS.

You need the throttle cable bracket form the V3-4 as earlier is different, and you will also need a V3-4 Throttle cable.

Mine is all done and up and running.

I will post pics when i get it back from mapping on Sat.
