Hi all ive just been reading about the td05 18g and seen that it can come on boost at as little as 2600rpm and wondered why the td05 16g takes longer to spool up.
I might be wrong but ive had my td05 on for a bit now and mapped by jgm to 345@1.5bar but it doesnt come on boost till 4000rpm.
Is this normal for a 16g?

 

my 18g is on full boost by then and the 16g is meant to spool quicker but mine is now up for sale for 300 quid done about 10000 miles

 

my 16g comes on boost just before 3000rpm and is on full boost by 3500rpm.

get yours checked out

 

ive just had it rebuild by A E T

 

mine & the friends 16g start picking up boost about 2000rpm then hit full boost between 4500 & 5000rpm

 

I've had both in the same car.......the 16G makes 1 bar boost about 500RPM earlier than my 18G.

Way more airflow / top end for the 18G though

it must just be me but its alot smother delivery than i expected.
The td04 used to give me neck ake because it boosted so fast
