Default SP ecu wont drive idle speed valve?

Given up hope with my 97 uk turbo today! Went to put the prodrive ecu in and it ran but with a big fat CEL right from startup, code 24 idle speed malfunction, and a lumpy idle, clearly it wasnt operating the valve. This particular ecu is new to me but looks exactly the same as others I have seen. Luckily I have an understanding dealership who gives me free select monitor time otherwise I would be well hacked off. My question is are there different types of isv around the 97/98 years, or do you think my ecu is fried? All electrical connections were fine as far as I could tell. I think the ecu is a 98 and my car is a 97, does anyone know if thats the cause? I cant figure it out at the moment. The isv is fine BTW and is now running perfect back on old 8S ecu. Its a complete ****, a diy PPP shouldnt be this hard surely!

yeah that why it was on the select monitor, to initialise the ecu and recode the keys. I am sure it should have worked so its either a bad connection or damaged ecu I reckon. Complete ****, I hate all this key recoding tosh, why with all the genius that resides within the subaru community does nobody know a way around that pesky immobiliser. Are we really saying it cant be beat! I can't really check for poor connections as I now don't have any keys to start the car on that ecu as I had them coded back to the working one. On the lookout for a simtek or pfc in earnest now, fed up with all this fannying about wasting my friendly dealers time.
