Default Engine Specs and differences

Hi all,

firstly can anyone tell me the differences between a 2004 newage wrx and a newage sti short motor? is the sti forged? are they interchangable if i fit my wrx heads etc?
also, i have been offered a sti v4 complete engine very cheap, is it worth buying to either use heads , block etc for my rebuild?
many thanks in advance for any help

Someone else has asked an almost identical WRX vs STi engine question over the last couple of days, in General I think, so well worth you reading that thread. STi pistons aren't forged but are stronger anyway, the rods are lighter and, especially if you're talking about a Japanese spec engine, the crank is better. EJ207 block is stronger too.

Little use you buying the version 4 engine if you're on a newage. The heads won't fit your inlet manifold, for starters.
