Default Changing Tappets

Is this a job that can be done without removing the engine (2.0GL) from the car?

Also any views on the cost to replace.

Not sure if they're hydraulic or not but the engine sounds like a tractor sine it overheated (caused by a duff radiator cap losing pressure allowing water to escape via the expansion tank)

Any advice appriciated.

Yea, Changed my my95 ej20 tappets a few months bk, engine in, a little tricky but not too bad, yeah they'l be hydrolic, but check oil preasure before you replace em if that's good do an oil flush n oil change first, see if that helps, coz tappets from subaru are £25 + vat each! cheers
