Welcome

Does sound like air in the system, or maybe wrong grade of fluid as it seems to work when its warmed up a bit. Might be worth draining it and re-filling with new stuff

The belt is loose, and needs replacing? Check how tight it is and how the ridges on the back feel.

I've replaced the belt and got the correct tension on it and checked it since and its still ok but still getting the same problem.
I have noticed though that there is a black rubber type dust around the aux belts, is this due to normal wear and tear ??

Id imagine there will be a little dust off the belt, as it beds itself in. Keep an eye on it. Perhaps your first reply is closer to the mark.

I rang Xtreme motorsport in dudley today and spoke to Simon and he said it could be due to a rack problem if the car had been curbed and it might have bent a coupling/arm ????
