Default Sports cat

Wondering if anyone has the information i'm looking for
Basically i'm attempting to hit 400hp but wanted to see if i can do so with a 2nd decat pipe but keeping the sports cat in the downpipe.
Anyone think this is a bad idea and will hinder the performance majorly?

I had a catted TSL system, and it was generally suggested that I'd need a 3" de-cat..... so I did.

Must be worth a try to save money, and if the mapper says that it seems restrictive, then swap it and have the map tweaked to suit.

IMHO

Cheers Dunx,
You've quite often come back to me with answers
My initial thought was to keep it as i couldn't be bothered to swap it over everytime MOT time came but may reconsider.

One of the very few perks at work is that my employers will allow me to access S'net when it is quiet.... 7 PM onwards I get an hour for "tea", so if I'm bored I can trawl round here till 9PM.

It's what S'net is about for me.

P.S. I have a friendly MOT tester

P.P.S. I had my TSL sports cat on for three years and it passed fine @ 340 bhp....

I run a sports cat on mine. Has passed the last two MOT's with it on and running 400bhp last time round too.

People keep telling me that i'd get 400hp on my setup with a Decat and 380 with a sports cat.
Would it realistically cost me 20hp?

Just possibly... but mine feels much more responsive as it picks up from low revs since it's de-cat/3" system was added.

5% loss doesnt seem too harsh at lower power, but when you get up to 400bhp it all adds up.

I know a guy who will 'pass' it come MOT time but if the worst were ever to happen and the car was investigated, i'm sure the so to speak.
It's illegal to run without a cat isn't it?
But i am MIGHTY tempted now

Alan J at Engine Tuner posted that all post March 2001 car "cats" must be type approved, meaning only Subaru parts will be deemed legal.

So go the whole hog and bin it !
