Post Locating a fuse...

Hi,

I feel a bit of a thicko asking such a lame question... but the clock doesnt work on my dash and nor does the cig lighter... I suspect its one and the same fuse for both, but can I find the fuse box... no...

I know there's one in the engine bay above the battery and there is a fuse in there labelled "clocks" but the fuse is ok and I'm guessing it means 'dash clocks'.

Is there a secondary fuse box inside the car, behind the dash somewhere??

Thanks
Alex

I had this fuse blow when I blew the transistors in my head unit when trying to install it (didn't disconnect battery!)

As Stevie says, the fuse box is right down by your right shin attached to the 'wing'. When you get the cover off - then from memory - the fuse in question is on the bottom-most row, 2nd one in from the bulkhead end. But don't quote me on that!

I think it's a blue 15amp... or could be a red 10amp lol.

Just check all the fuses - you'll eventually stumble upon the blown one. Start from the bottom, bulkhead end to save time - as I'm sure it's in that area...

You should have a few spare fuses in the moulded-in recesses on the fuse box cover, too!

Hopefully it'll still have the handy fuse-puller tool present as well - brown I think it is...

I just checked every fuse and no joy...

The guy did have a big stereo install so what you say could have blown the fuse...

Altho all the fuses are ok. Maybe the lighter wire was spliced for some reason and never reconnected?
I'm gonna have to do alot of wire tracing

Its one of those tiny little things that going to be such a simple thing to fix, but its locating the exact location of the problem which is gonna be a laborious old job... what a pain!

Altho as a back up plan I could just run new wires to both clock and lighter from any of the other feeds such as heater controls or whatever...

Yeah, I'd do the latter - as you say it'll be a thankless task otherwise.

Did you defo check each fuse thoroughly?! Sometimes it's not obvious that they've blown, when glancing at them, etc...
