Default I'm so blonde please help!!

Hi,
I've just reg on here in the hope one of you can help me!!
I'm trying to sell my 1995 jap import as we now have 4 children and can't fit all 6 of us in it!!!
It's an sti and unmodified as far as we can tell. It's only had 3 owners since new and thought we'd have lots of interest but ebayers have been really insulting with offers like £1000 ! Anyway, my prob is lots have asked for the codes/numobers off the plate under the bonnet and someone also said if it had particular no.s it was ltd ed and worth more....on looking it does indeed have these codes etc.. but me being blonde have NO idea what's so special and am really hoping you can tell me!
I only bought this car as I loved it and the spec was of no interest, it wasn't sold as anything other than a wrx sti.
The codes on the little silver plate are... gc8c4ed ... bk
Anyone shine any light on it for me????
Rachel xx

Hi Rachel,

it might be worth putting a picture of your car on here, within about 30 mins someone will be able to tell you the in's and out's of your car

It seems that your vehicle code means that you have an original V2 STI 555.

STI built these to celebrate Subaru winning the WRC in 1996, and Colin Mcrae was the driver at the time

I'm not sure how many were built though, probably 555 I guess

The code you posted: GC8C4ED, is either a regular STi Version II, or indeed the Ltd Edn STi Version II 555 as mentioned.... and without doubt you have the latter!...

- "Fact me..."
- "Well... we take a regu'ar STi II and pour on the good'eese!" , ergo:-

It has the mud flaps and the optional Speedline Safari (nee Electra S) alloys offered on the 555 (but these could've been added by an owner later on, obviously)...

No, what really seals the deal - the clincher! - is the Sports Blue paintjob and the roof vent! - fitted as std at the factory on the 555. These are unlikely to have been added to a regular STi II, so I'm 99.99% sure you are the proud owner of the 555.

This model could well be desirable to the right buyer, so ham up your eBay ad! As well as laying it on thick about the 555 Ltd Edn, mention also that it has 275PS (271bhp) power and 235lb ft torque in your ad...

Good liuck - it should defo sell at a fair price.

(I reckon that some of those eBayers 'smelt' - like the chavvy sharks they are lol - the lack of knowledge of the model in your ad, and were trying to 'steal' it off you for a song, so to speak. Nasty people lol).

you will be able to get even more info on the car here (and also advertise it) as this is a 'limited edition' forum .. Link: Type-RA.co.uk - Forum for Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA, WRX STi, Spec-C, S202, Type RA-R - Powered by vBulletin people will be on the look out here for your type of car.

Most people will look on Pistonheads for cars , so advertise here also, you will obviously be able to get an idea how much similar aged cars are going for on here too .. Link: PistonHeads Classifieds

That's a real nice unmolested example by the way,, not many of them about! definately for an enthusiast that wears an Anorak - lol

Good advise by apac for places to advertise! ^^^ Those 2 sites are well worth using.

Pistonheads ads are free and you get to post upto 6 pics and lots of advert word allowance. Cool.

Amazing what a bit of knowledge does ... One minute you're resigned to the fact that you think it's an 'ordinary looking' Imp. The next (once you knew what it was) you're over the moon and are 'interested' in it again! Cool and the gang.

Good for you!

Yeah, they're a vicious lot on there... because they're so INTO their motors. They're very sensitive if their knowledge base gets 'challenged' - just check out some of the posts in the forum threads. You literally get a slanging match going on (highly amusing at times ;-D)

Surley this is a good reason to have a his (space wagon) and hers (Ltd edition impreza) . That would give the best of both worlds.

Those codes mean it is a WRX STi2 4 door, not necessarily a 555 Ed. They shared the same code, the limited should have the necessary 555 special edition parts like seats, badging etc.

Price wise they are worth c.£2k depending on condition, mileage, modification etc.

Subaru did indeed offer the STi II 555 in Wagon form too!

Rachel's clan should get one for a matching pair!
