Trying to fix my subaru impreza wrx sti ... please help!
Hi chaps,
I bought a subaru impreza a few years ago and havent used it for quite a while so I thought Id get it back on the road.
However, charged her up on the weekend to find that the 'forward going' gears arent engaging properly so theres very little forward drive, kinda feels like clutch slipping or like some of the teeth on the gears are broken off or something... reverse gear works normally and quite well though so I guess thats a plus.
Anyway, anyone else encountered this sorta problem before, is it common for this model and anything that you can suggest to sort it out??
It looks similar to this model though doesnt look as big...
Thanks for the help chaps

Lol @ Splitpin. Surprised the OP don't know what scoob he has got hehe....
I think i actually read about a similar problem in the drivetrain section and it was answered by David @ API something to do with maintenance of the gearbox i belive.
Best to give him a call i would say and he will more than likely tell you about the problem and approx cost over the phone.
Good Luck

Yea something like that .. I think its actually a nikko or something or other, I have the '9v 1200mA' model I think, any of you guys have the same?
Anyhow, like I said it does feel like clutch slip... but this model doesnt actually have a clutch so I guess I can rule that out. I took the shell off for a quick look and I do surprisingly have a limited slip differential keeping the power down on those 2 wheeler tight bends
Righto I think Ill have to drop out the gearbox tomorrow and open her up to see whats happening (or not happening) in there ... will keep u updated if I find a fix, in case you guys get the same problem.
cheers.

just thought Id post a pic of myself and try to scare you guys into replying :
I was kinda posing in this pic so I dont look as scary as I normally do but anyhow ... I opened the gear box today and it looks like either the driveshafts are slipping at the inner cv joints or the cogs in the 'box are slipping over each and not fully engaging... Ill have to run it tomorro with the gearbox open to see if I can figure out whats going on
