bought one not so long ago and they do work but only certain cars so you need to check compatibility with yours. i have the codes for the self diagnostic test if you can manage to find out the code. quick short blinks are 1s and long blinks are 10s it will keep repeating so you should be able to read it. once you know post it and i will let you know.

A generic OBD2 reader won't help you on a classic shape car. The only ones that will work on what you've got are PC-based ISO interfaces, along with some interface software like DeltaDash or ECU Explorer.

Best bet for the time being is to persevere with the light flashes.

I couldn't work the flashes out 1st time. So I filmed it on my camera, and put it on here, and someone told me what it was. Looks pretty obvious once you get used to it.
Where are you based? Someone might put in on the diag for you.

SECS PSI3 monitors would also work, I have one for my old UK '99 car.
