Default turbo failed???????????????

have a uk turbo 2000 with a urpated panel filter and cobra cat back exhaust and yellow injectors(not sure if these are standard fit).fitted a decat friday running fine.went out sat night and had a knocking noise coming from turbo so went home and it kept cutting out and making different noises.took turbo off sunday and could hardly turn the impellor and the one where the decat bolts to was black when i changed cat it is now white.could it be the decat that has killed my turbo.seems strange to go just as de cat is fitted

need a remap even with what you may think is only a small change(ie decat, panelfilter), itherwise you end yo ruining your engine etc

Think it is something more than just the decat. what year is your uk turbo? my99 onwards had yellow 440 injectors. a black exhaust outlet means a bit rich but ok a white means lean and very hot exhaust gas temps... sounds like its either over boosted or the fuel pump might be bust, ran very lean and melted bits... hope its not but doesnt sound good.

A remap is always recommened when things are changed but not always needed. decat should be ok, injectors tho do need remapping.

If its not turning and the exit is white I'd say it defo ran lean(which can happen when de-catting) for long enough to melt/damage the turbo internals.

I would say yes. As you could have had a shed load of detination. Unfortunately this could have knackered your engine aswell. Fingers and toes crossed you got lucky and the turbo went before further damage was done.

do a ecu reset after everymod if your not going to do a remap straight away!
from what I have read on the forum decat centre pipe should be ok as long as fueling is not running lean.

A friend of mine with a my2000 has this and his runs fine!
