Default Motor out 1h34.

Last week i replaced my motor only to have a thrust bearing shatter when i selected reverse. The motor had to be removed again. I had never removed any motor before so the task ahead was daunting to say the least. Manual in hand it took me 6hours to remove the motor the first time around. Took me another 5hours to get the motor back in and started.

Today i removed the motor again, in 1h34 start to finish!

Thats the second time in my life i have removed a motor, i can only imagine how fast someone who knows their way around these motors could get them out.

I hear agents charge 8hours labour, am sure they can do it in less than an hour. Whats the fastest you have done it?

iv taken 4 engines out, 1st one was 2 hours, 2nd was 1hr 10, 3rd same, 4th was just over a hour. they r straight forward when u get started. i had all tools as iv done my mechanic aprentice but been panel beating n painting for 3 years now, so not spannered.

i think 1 hour 34 is a good time

i still find putting them in head work, lining the box up, either 1st time or takes hrs, lol

Good old Halfords tool kit for me, must say if i had an engine jack it might go a bit faster. I have had to chain a block n tackle to my roof rafters in the garage to get the motor out. Thats the next thing i buy!

the amount of times I have got part way through something and everything is fighting, bolts sheering etc etc and think.. if I had taken the engine out in the first place I could be all back together and running by now..

usually takes just over an hours to get engine out.
the longest time is building back in all the rad and hoses and fuel pipes and intercooler pipes etc.. usually had enough by then

just gotta take ur time, i fitted my thrust bearings onto clutch once, then fitted engine near poistion, fitted clutch fork and put together, rather than let bearing clip into clutch when fitting
