Default 93 wrx import classic pre face lift bonnet vents

On the pre face lift wrx imports are you meant to remove the plastic guards under the side bonnet vents or keep them on. Ive heard that removing them can make the engine run hotter due to air flow escaping.

I have mine on at moment and theve been opn since factory from the rust on the nuts securing them.

Any feedback guys . Id love to lower my bonnet temps a bit due to top mount but have got a sti spray kit to fit when i get the time.

I am removing the apexi power intake that came with the car and going back to standard airbox and free flowing panel filter.

Thanks all I look forward to your opinions.

I have heard of people adding washers (and longer bolts) to the bonnet hinges so the rear of the bonnet is lifted creating a gap for heat to escape. Not sure whether this would have any negative effect on a tmic though.

Leave them on.
Unless you rag the hell out of it everywhere i see no particular reason to worry too much about the under bonnet temps.
Do you monitor the temp?

100% leave them on they serve no purpose on a road and are only there from homolagation (sp?) purposes
