error code 24 idle air control solenoid valve

error code 24 idle air control solenoid valve, went to fill up this afternoon & on the way back the rpm went erratic & threw up a code so pulled over quickly checked everything & seemed ok started it back up & drove home & everything seemed fine can these just throw up a code & be ok or is this a sign its wanting replacing ouch 245 quid

i'd try cleaning it mate,try that first,them if it needs a new one at least you have tried all avenues.....
but dont unbolt the top of the valve (the two screws)unbolt by the 10mm bolts that hold it to the inlet,...

oh ya clean insied with brake and clutch cleaner...
and clean the inlet side aswell.......
