Question Help buying wrx/sti scooby pls !!

Hello all,
Just joined the forum so i hope i have put this thread in the correct section.Basically at the moment im driving a astra gsi turbo but im looking to a buy a older wrx/sti scooby.I dont want to spend a lot of money only around the £4000 mark.
I must admit i know bugger all about Subarus as i have never owned one and im wanting some advice please before i buy one.The main things im wanting to know are...
A.Is the any common or serious faults i should be looking for when i buy one?
B.How often do they need servicing and whats the average cost? Also what the costs of brake pads and discs ect?
Also whats the turbo life expectancy and whats the cost of replacing the turbos?
Lastly whats the performance like with the older scoobys for example bhp and 0-60 times ect?
Sorry for all the questions just want to know as much as possible before i buy one.cheers

My best advice would be take someone with you who knows about them.
There is a lot of crap out there and it can be an expensive learning curve if you get a bad one.
Just to add, don't be fooled by service history unless you check it with the actual dealership that it has supposedly been to.
A full service history (for any car) is £50 but can add hundreds to a sale price, so check it if you can!!!
