Default sti8 intercooler sprayer

Hi all ive just bought an sti8 tmic and the surround for under the bonnet.
Its still got the pipe work and the jet in it and i wonted to get it working.
I was going to mount another washer bottle some where and use the pump off that, but i dont no any thing about wiring it up.

I could make it manual but i dont wont to keep pressing the button all the time.
Is it possable to put some sort of relay in the curcit so that when i turn it on it will spray once every few sconds in stead of constantly.
and advise appreciated
cheers

Ah about the 3rd thread this week about this, well basically you can do the manual one ok, the auto one is controlled by the ecu on the JDM cars which is a little harder to do, ie lots of cash as the ecu's aint compatable, so your options are, fmic so you dont need a spray or just do the manual one, as its pretty hard to control otherwise (if not impossible on a budget).

Or alternatively not bother at all, as it doesn't make much difference.

where is the ecu on there? looks like the timer comes from the switch and relay?

You're looking at the schematic of a newage STi that only appears to have manual spray. Lomas has a GC8, and as Tony says, the automatic spray (on both old and newer cars) is controlled by the ECU with a disable switch.

Edited to add: Where are those three lines running down the bottom of your screengrab going to?

That's a manual system found in the UK spec cars not a JDM setup.
UK cars have the relay timer as shown in the picture

Default techies going to in depth on a pump circit

try maplins / rs for a 12v timer or switching transistor / relay circit its not that hard its just switching the 12v to on or off for a pump, or look for a roller switch to attach to the gas pedal, ie: you put your foot down so far it turns the pump on you release it stops the pump.
what makes things so confusing is all the techie's going too deep into it with the quick look at the ecu to look good approch on such a basic circit to build.
and before the techies start having babies yes im a newbie to the site but iv been an electronic engineer for 20 years.

You can fit a JDM auto switch, the UK is manual and needs pressed for every squirt.
I have fitted a boost pressure switch to mine so it starts to auto spray once I hit 1.2bar on map B.

I too have the boost pressure switch fitted, tied into the oem harness its easy to do. The switch has a No and NC contact so you can wire a led of the NC so you know the switch it armed (led on) and when it makes the led goes out so you know you are then spraying water.

RS have a nice little boost switch with different spring rates so you can change the trigger point over a greater range, less then £20 as well I think

I got the boost pressure switch from here Boost Pressure Switch - For Turbo Water Injection hobbs:eBay Motors (item 330356163227 end time Sep-05-09 18:19:35 PDT)

This is the guide I follwed. How To: Automatic Intercooler Sprayer (boost referenced) - IWSTI.com: Subaru WRX STI Forums

When its all done you press the switch and nothing happens untill you hit the preselected boost pressure which in my case will only happen when on map b.

The water level is Ok to manage as I dont use it all the time, in fact i'm hardly on map b! But I do want to get my hands on a cheap spec c water tank!

Wee pic of the switches.
