Awfull smell coming thru vents
Not very impressed with myself but i was showing off my wrx to my mate and he wanted to see what it was like off the mark so on the long drive leading up my parants farm i booted it from a stand still but i noticed around second gear there was a god awfull smell coming threw the vents , it wasn't an burning oil smell but it was a really strong putrid smell , at the moment touch wood the smell has gone but there is a slight whiff of it in my car when i get in ..... im wondering if it was the clutch as it seemed quite slow to put the power down ....
i dont normally rag the car and its got me worried i may have wreaked something

i had a strange smell from mine when cluch needed doing but mine was slipping like mad so put it down to that! although i didnt get the smell till it was really really badly slipping.. was worst on say an A road doing 50-60 mph in top gear then i wanted to overtake... foot down slighty then it would rev up then suddenly grip and take off and stink like mad lol

ive had the car 2 weeks so do you recon a clutch would come under warranty cos it is general wear and tear isnt it ??????

if its a brand new car? its prob just the car wearing in... parts getting hotter? if its second hand im not sure what sort of warranty a second hand dealer would give you as clutch is a wearing part like brakes i thought? im sure if you u look about you can prob find some sort of tests to do while driving to test the clutch?

If only a smell when launching and seems ok now you probably just burnt a small amount off it, should still be ok, Mine did it the once and 2 years later still ok.

the smell goes away after like 30secs,unpleasent but a good launch will make you smile
