Default engine managment light??

hi guys, i have just fitted a de-cat down pipe to my sti version 7, the engine managment light comes on briefly now and again!!
is this normal due to the de-cat pipe??
will it affect the running of the car??
cheers

a lot of scooby drivers wouldn't fit a de-cat wothout a re-map so i would be carefull till you get it looked at.at the very least make sure your running on good fuel just incase it is doing harm causing the engine to knock.

Mine came on a stayed on, cat efficiency as there wasn't one. Your car may be overboosting or who knows what, drive it like Grandma till you get it mapped.

IMHO

It will be overboosting. Driving it hard will kill it after time. You need to get a map.

They really dont like being decatted (STI's), it needs a remap asap to run safely otherwise you will be 2.5-3k out of pocket for that engine rebuild

As tonyburns has mentioned, the UK Bugeye STi does not like being de-catted as the turbo produces boost spikes and therefore det

If you can't afford a re-map there is the option of changing the restrictor pill which will dampen down the boost response...........which sort of defeats the object of the de-cat

I'm an old git and remember all the problems when a certain John Banks de-catted his bugeye STi in about 2002 LOL
