BHP is 215, this was upped in 2003 to 223bhp, and no civic type R's wont be nervous, they will probably out run you

civic type r are quicker than you think but top end you'll pull away but 1st steps would be a exhaust, panel filter, fuel pump then a remap and you'll see about 260/270bhp and equal torque range then type r's should be abit nervous

Why? they are lighter, smaller frontal area and put more power to the wheels without power sapping 4wd, they also have better suspension (WRX suspension isn't by any stretch of the imagination 'sports') and will corner faster, a stock WRX won't even see which way a reasonable well driven CTR has gone, however the CTR does have to be kept on the boil.

However panic not, as has been said a decent exhaust, (you can remove the up-pipe cat for better responce - a pain I'm afraid), and a remap (Short term a boost controller to get you to about 240bhp is cheaper - I wouldn't bother with a filter) will see you up at 260-270bhp, add some mild suspension mods (rear ARB and droplinks, ALK and rear subframe lock bolts) and you'll be the one waving goodby!
