UPGRADE TURBO
Hey guys,
doing a few mods on my 2003 sti ppp so it will be getting remapped by Bob Rawle once all sorted(bob mapped my turbo 2000 and was gettin297 bhp superb).Any way i noticed you can pick up turbos on ebay for reasonable money and have started thinkin maybe i should get an upgrade that will be capable of more torque/power than my vf 35 400bhp ish loads of torque is what i'm after.rather than bhp.I am well aware there is a few shady sellers on ebay and would only buy off reputable sellers with warranty.
Ok so anyone know what i should be looking for, there seems to be a lot of the td range.

Hi Steve,
Seriously mate, I wouldn't buy a turbo from ebay. I take it you're referring to the 18G or 20G. I know the prices look very tempting but in truth, they are made so poorly that they aren't likey to be much better than your VF35. I'm sure that money permitting, you would purchase a better turbocharger but my advice would be to do just that. Andy Forrest or Harvey Smith make some awesome 18 & 20G's. The MD321H is a good turbo for what you are looking for and so is the RCM400. A 20G will also produce 400hp and is a fair bit cheaper

Steve, that is exactly what i did. Got remapped when it was quite uncalled for as i was saving for my next phase anyhow. Next month i'll be due for another remap. I have to admit i'm not quite sure what 'G' a VF35 is. All i know is like Uk300scoob said, its a 350hp turbo. The 'G' refers to grams. So the 18g would have an 18gram compressor wheel IIRC and so on.
When you can take a look around the forums and take a look at some of the guys dyno graphs and what turbos they are using to help get a good idea of what you ar looking for. You have anyone in mind for a remap because they might be able to give you a real good idea of what you'll need.

Bob Rawle will be doing any mapping he recomends MD321H but the price is a bit too far away at the moment .I think i will get it mapped once i get my manifold back from harvey and see where i am then take my time saving up for the turbo. After he mapped my turbo 2000 i was astonished so i think i will be happy for a while at least.
